In July 1997, more than 26 years ago, I gave two talks which, if I recall rightly, were part of a Diakrisis Conference (I used to hold them every year with a number of speakers). It was basically one talk divided into two because there was so much ground to cover. They dealt with the “Evangelical Attraction to Catholic Mysticism”, which was basically medieval mysticism. A short time after that, I expanded the notes from the talks into an article of around 13,000 words.

There was some controversy at the time because certain ‘big names’ in the evangelical scene were examined in the article and found wanting. I was so naïve in those days! I stupidly believed that ‘Christians’ in general wanted to discover the ways that the Church was being attacked by satanic strategies. O boy, was I wrong! The ordinary little believers like me do, yes. But not the fat-cat bigwigs who have wheedled themselves into key positions of fake authority. They are either in denial or they are part of the whole dark setup. At that time, in the mid to late 1990s, I seemed to have become some kind of polemicist — not by choice but because some terrible developments were hitting the church and I seemed to become one of the guys who exposed them, not realizing that this would bring me a lot of flak, which was also coming because of a number of other controversies in which I got caught up as an apologist. When you discover that so many people in the churches are into some of the very stuff which you left behind when you repented and believed the Gospel, something has to done, right? You can’t ignore it. The behaviour of some notable individuals was so awful that I began to wonder if the whole Christian scene was cracked and done for. In a way, it was. So I withdrew from active service, and it took me a long time to get over all that. I think around 8 years up until 2017.

Anyway, the upshot is that I got completely back on track some years ago and am now positively ON FIRE and in no mood to compromise. I have a battery of anti-flak missiles based on the Word of God and my own assurance. Recently, I have been updating a lot of articles in my back-catalogue (or talks and turning them into articles) from decades ago which had slipped into obscurity, and I am giving them a new lease of life. There are literally hundreds. This is one of them. The two talks which were enlarged to a 13,000-word article way back in 1997 have now received an 11,000-word boost in the last week to total 24,000 words on 65 pages (including 85 footnotes) — an 85% increase in written material. I have now made it into the article that I always wanted it to be, having now been able to include the knowledge that I have acquired since the talks were originally given. What was still somewhat controversial then has now gone mainstream and the visible church is even more broken than ever. Honestly (and I’m not being patronizing here), if I was going to set you some homework, this eBook would be it! I truly think it should be read and understood. I’ve been banging on about this kind of stuff for around thirty-six years now in one way or another and I have watched all these influences go from being widely regarded as unhinged to becoming mainstream and generally accepted, despite the unfaithful, blasphemous lunacy. Please read it and tell me if it is me who is nuts or if it is the visible church that is becoming an asylum. 🙂

This little eBook leaves no stone unturned in its quest to expose the false spirituality at the heart of all mysticism, fanaticism and ‘enthusiasm’ (a definition for this is given in the article). You will see how it all dovetails into what is happening in Eastern mysticism and the New Age scene. (I mean the real New Age scene). The visible church is being railroaded into a number of specious activities which are now taken for granted as valid teaching and practice in the ‘Christian’ scene. However, they were vigorously opposed in the Reformation and must be opposed today if we wish to be faithful and not put up with such arrogant imposture into the world of the Ekklesia. We are in the midst of an apostasy, so it is not going to improve but deepen and worsen and the level of deception will be “off the wall” (cf. Matthew 24:24). But at least we will have clear consciences when faced with our Maker if we do not compromise.
