S0, SOME OF YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS OR FRIENDS ASK YOU if you believe in God and when you say “yes” they think you are soft in the head. Then they ask if you believe that Jesus existed in the flesh and when you say “yes” they think you have lost your moorings altogether. Then they ask if you believe what is in the Bible and when you say “yes” they tell you that you are crazy and suffering from religious delusions. So you smile to yourself and think of this text: “By this you will know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and which is already in the world at this time” (1 John 4:2-4). It’s hard to realise that members of your family according to the flesh, or your accusatory friends, are of the “spirit of the antichrist” (aka “the mystery of lawlessness”, 2 Thessalonians 2:7), but that is the spirit of the world – the zeitgeist of this evil age, in which the world has been in preparation for the parousia of the actual Antichrist for two millennia. The COMPENSATION for this rejection as a nutcase by your family is that YOU HAVE BEEN ADOPTED INTO A NEW FAMILY which is not according to the world but according to the Spirit (please read Romans 8:15).
