“WHY DON’T YOU WEAR A SUIT? IT’S DISRESPECTFUL NOT TO”, says this smug, jumped-up, insecure-looking guy with an unjustified sneer at my relaxed attire. So I reply,
“Because a suit is a disguise for ill-intentioned, unimaginative people to hide behind, knowing it lends them an air of ‘respectability’ in this fake world. Because politicians (most of whom are disingenuous, partisan narcissists) wear suits and I would not want to be associated with such people. Because a suit is a uniform which reeks of faceless uniformity. Because a suit is the embodiment of blandness and mundanity. Because a suit is a suppressor of individuality. Because snotty, insecure people like you wear suits, and the insistence on wearing one in any place or at any time is a sure sign of petty-mindedness and a cultlike mentality. That’s why I don’t wear (or even own) such an insipid monument as a suit. They simply do not suit me”.
