They’re dropping down like flies —
one after the other dies:
Superstars, so-called, that’s what they say.
But I can’t buy the hype,
the starful stereotype.
It seems this world’s a tawdry cabaret.
Another one died today —
a “legend”, so they say —
revered for all his antics on the stage.
So how come I’m not moved
and not by grief infused,
and cannot in the mournfulness engage?
It’s claimed he’s “right with God”.
How’re you so sure? I prod.
You read it in a Christian magazine?!? 🙄
But where’s the attributes?
One knows one by their fruits.
To me he seemed a dark-souled libertine.
[Refrain]
All the wrong people
are fêted in this world
The “heroes” of this realm
are made of hollowness and clay.
All of the obeisance
at those pretenders hurled
is just idolatry
and folly with naïveté.
“Judge no one lest you
be judged by the Lord too”,
say those who vainly cling onto false hopes.
If righteously judge I,
then I can ask you why
you fall so easily for worthless tropes.
Of one thing I am sure:
Being “right with God” means “pure”,
renouncing all that’s dirty, foul and dark.
So if your hero’s sat
on stage beneath a bat —
a darkness symbol — there’s no sacred spark.
“But all that’s just for show,
his entourage in tow.
You have no right to judge his faith on that”.
Most certainly I do;
and certainly should you!
Our witness is not as an acrobat.

All the wrong people

The “heroes” of this realm

All of the obeisance

is just idolatry
and folly with naïveté.
Why are we all so fast,
when some old celeb’s passed,
to claim that they’re disciples of the Christ?
The “Prince of Darkness” now
is one of those somehow!
In desperation, truth is sacrificed.
If we ensure that those
outside the faith suppose
that ANYTHING we do is ‘A-OK’,
the holiness that we
should then make plain to see
is void and thus it we will not convey.
I am not being unkind
if when I look I find
that basic standards of the faith are lost.
It seems we know no more
what “Christian” means for sure.
To hold this faith comes at a profound cost.

All of the obeisance

“You have no clue if he
did finally bow his knee
in his last moments just before he passed”.
That’s true for everyone,
even Hitler or Mao Zedong.
We can only go by what one shows at last.
So if some days before you croak
you treat God like a joke,
and publicly embrace your fan-renown
with “Prince of Darkness” schtick
and image satanic,
then why should one be puzzled if I frown?
He had a perfect window
to witness to souls galore,
to tell the world of what some claim’s “his faith”.
Instead he chose to flaunt
that darkness and to vaunt
his menace with his eyes blacked like a wraith.

All of the obeisance

So keen to clutch at straws
and believe they love God’s laws
they claim that those celebs must have believed
because they didn’t cringe
or then become unhinged
when from someone a Bible they received.
With faith there’s blessed signs
your essence redesigns
and something pure is fashioned in your soul.
What’s dark becomes abhorred;
the image is restored
of God in righteous holiness. You’re whole.
So let’s just stop this bunk —
the “converted celeb” junk
of giving the impression someone’s saved
who’s never known the Lord
who’s not from sin been cured
and still behaves in public as depraved.

is just idolatry
and folly with naïveté.

Oh Definitely! I am not in the least bit convinced at all. I wasn’t really paying attention but saw it in passing and said what?! No way is he saved. Just like when my daughter said to me one time oh look mom! Alice Cooper is saved! I scoffed and said, no he is not! He hasn’t changed a bit because you see that he had a concert later on and he is still wearing all that devilish gunk! No. Not buying it. If scarcely we be saved what makes us think they are. I can only pray to be found worthy. Amen.
