RECENTLY, SOMEONE WROTE TO ME that it was ridiculous for me to claim that Trump and his cabinet are enacting and propagating ‘Dominion theology’ (or so-called “Christian Reconstructionism”). He said that Trump merely wanted to rid the country of illegal immigrants and eradicate all the ‘woke filth’ which has taken over. A more naïve view of the situation would be hard to find. Even the late ‘Christian Nationalist’ and ‘Dominionist’ Charlie Kirk said about Trump back in 2020, “finally we have a president that understands the seven mountains of cultural influence” (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Mountain_Mandate ) — a reference to the so-called “7 Mountain Mandate” of “Dominion Theology”. Trump and his cabinet are Dominionist zealots in government behaving like toddlers entering a nursery for the first time with a mass of toys to try out, including nuclear weapons and mass theatres of war.
Adherents to ‘Dominion theology’ support Trump because he champions their goals regarding their imagined Old Testament style of ‘cleaning up the world’. Of course, their idea of “cleaning up the world” is solely based on some kind of temporary outward appearance rather than any permanent internal cleansing. For example, they have no intention of cleaning up the mafia in the USA (or else they’d end up like JFK and his brother!); neither do they have any intention of cleaning themselves up personally. They lie through their teeth continually (especially Trump, Vance, Noem, and the increasingly lip-plumped Karoline Leavitt), but because they believe their lies, they do not see them as being sinful. Furthermore, the fact that their hero Trump has been a serial sexual abuser and grifter does not put them off from adulating him. Hypocrisy is always a contradictory way of life. Of course, the real efficacious cleaning up in this world is meant to involve proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, not trying desperately to make things look ‘squeaky-clean’ from the outside. Disciples of Christ are in the business of repentance-endorsement rather than behaviour-enforcement. But then the Dominionists have no real Gospel to proclaim other than “Do what we tell you, or else you will suffer the consequences BADLY!” (or FAFO in shorthand😉).
Even this entire debacle in Iran has been perpetrated on the basis of the warped eschatology (teachings about the end of the world) of the Dominionists, who believe that they have to clean up and kind of ‘Christianise’ the world supposedly so that Christ can return, while falling head over heels to endorse Israel, no matter what heinous acts it commits. (This is the only reason that Israel tolerates the so-called “Christian Zionists”, as they are “useful idiots” for their propaganda). Dominionists imagine that the second coming of Christ can only happen when they have prepared things on earth to enable it to do so. What a blasphemous notion that is, rooting Jesus’ return on the basis of mere human preparation rather than on stupendous Divine intervention. Jesus is waiting for nothing other than the right moment to return, regardless of what silly humans do on earth. Jesus Himself said, regarding His return, that “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father” (Matthew 24:36). Yet these vain Dominionists think that they do know, and that it will be precisely when they have achieved their ludicrous intentions, which they are trying to speed up. I call their intentions “ludicrous” because it is clearly shown in the New Testament that when Jesus does return, there will not at all be a cleaned-up world but an almost completely debauched and degenerate one (Matthew 24:37-39; Luke 17:26-30) which has generally always scoffed at any ideas about Jesus’ return (2 Peter 3:3) and which will culminate in complete apostasy and the revealing of the man of lawlessness, a.k.a. the Antichrist (2 Thessalonians 2:3) shortly prior to the Lord Jesus returning. Even Google A.I. knows more than these Dominionist people:
“Scriptures describing the world at the time of Jesus’ return depict a state of extreme moral corruption, widespread debauchery, and a total disregard for God, often comparing the era to the days of Noah and Sodom and Gomorrah”.
Exactly. One cannot possibly clean up this utterly corrupted world. One can enact laws which will ameliorate its debauchery and decadence; but cleaning it up in an almightily cataclysmic manner will have to be left to Christ to do when He returns to it and finds it in a hideously corrupt condition. Until then, we cannot know when the debauchery and degeneration have reached their zenith. Just when we think it couldn’t get any worse, it always gets worse! Again and again!
Coming back to what I said above about the debacle in Iran having been perpetrated on the basis of the warped eschatology of the Dominionists, who love to wage material war against their perceived enemies, Old Testament style, these people ignore the fact that the real weapons of warfare of the disciple of Christ are spiritual and non-corporeal (2 Corinthians 10:4; Ephesians 6:10-18). But because of their exclusively materialist view of the world in general and warfare in particular, they can only see conquest in terms of geographical territory. Thus, the war on Iran has been carried out by these Dominionists alleging that it is some kind of fulfillment of the Divine will. They actually believe that they are fulfilling Scripture prophecy and doing God’s bidding by waging war on Iran, as I will show below. This will not be the first time that the rogue state of Amerika has invoked the name of God in the cause of one of the multitude of armed conflicts which it has started. When George W. Bush began making war against Iraq in 2003, he claimed that God “told him to do it”. When a psychotic serial killer makes such a claim, they are branded as delusional and whacked into a secure holding facility. When a member of the administration of the USA makes such a statement, its brainwashed adherents (now the MAGA cult) cries out “Hallelujah! Praise the Lord”. What madness!
On March 2nd this year, a member of the armed forces wrote to the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) claiming that:
“I am a (NCO rank withheld) in our unit. This morning our commander opened up the combat readiness status briefing by urging us to not be “afraid” as to what is happening with our combat operations in Iran right now. He urged us to tell our troops that this was “all part of God’s divine plan” and he specifically referenced numerous citations out of the Book of Revelation referring to Armageddon and the imminent return of Jesus Christ. He said that “President Trump has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth”. He had a big grin on his face when he said all of this which made his message seem even more crazy. Our commander would probably be described as a “Christian First” supporter. He has been this way for a very long time and makes it clear that he desires all of us under him to become just like him as a Christian. But what he did this morning was so toxic and over the line that it shocked many of us in attendance at the ops readiness briefing”.
The MRFF has received (by March 5th) two hundred similar complaints. It is totally freaky that so many US military commanders hold this nutty Dominionist eschatology, which completely ignores the symbolic nature of “Armageddon” and the Book of Revelation in general (on which I personally have written a commentary). These are people who are responsible for designing ‘theatres’ of war in this world. Trump himself is surrounded and supported by countless pastors who prop him up with this nutty unbiblical agenda, in which of course he wallows as it glorifies him as its hero, even though he is not at all a Christian. Here he is being ‘prayed over’ by those pretended pastors, led by the Dominionist and virtual witch, Paula White (in red), as Trump signals war against Iran:

They can dress themselves up in as many suits and ties (yuk!) as they like in order to feign an outward respectability but these people are heretics, whose flocks should up and leave their churches a.s.a.p. A genuine pastor does not pray over a man who is a proven and unrepentant sexual abuser and grifter who is waging a war to fulfil some unhinged eschatological agenda at the behest of similarly unhinged cabinet members. Below is a copy of the email received by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation:

A 3rd March news report stated:
“Anytime Israel or the US is involved in the Middle East, we get this stuff about Christian nationalists who’ve taken over our government, and certainly our US military,” Mikey Weinstein, MRFF’s president, who is an air force veteran, told the Guardian. “Military members are not really able to stand up for themselves, because your military superior is not your shift manager at Starbucks,” he added. In a statement, Weinstein suggested the reports indicate an increase in Christian extremism in the military, noting that the complainants “report the unrestricted euphoria of their commanders” who perceive a “‘biblically-sanctioned’ war that is clearly the undeniable sign of the expeditious approach of the fundamentalist Christian ‘End Times’” (see https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/mar/03/us-israel-iran-war-christian-rhetoric ).
There is nothing wrong with praying about serious decisions like making a ‘just’ war or (better) defending a nation against marauders. But when a completely wacky eschatology is invoked as justification for seriously belligerent gung-ho military ventures then we are stepping onto very dangerous territory.
The so-called “Secretary of War” (renaming that from “Secretary of Defense” is a sign of this administration’s dark intentions), Peter Hegseth (a former TV personality!🙄), is an outright Dominionist who frequently invokes the name of God in prayer in relation to his Wild West military ventures. Following the U.S. military operation that kidnapped Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, Pete Hegseth described the action as a “godly mission” during a January 2026 Pentagon prayer service and invoked Psalm 144 from the Bible, which among other things says: “Set me free and rescue me from the grasp of foreigners, whose mouths speak falsehood, whose right hands are deceitful”.
On Twitter (now stupidly known as “X”), Peter Hegseth, in his capacity as Secretary of War, posted a video of him praying the Lord’s prayer against a continually changing backdrop of military moving images (see https://x.com/SecWar/status/1969530822127407323?s=20 ). The words, “Thy kingdom come” are shown on a backdrop of speeding missiles and advancing warships. “On earth” is spoken on a backdrop of a tank moving over some ground, and “as it is in heaven” is shown on a backdrop of parachuting troops jumping out of a plane from a great height. “For thine is the kingdom” (shown on an image of multiple small arms), “the power” (shown on an image of a pile of military aircraft such as drones, bombers, fighters and helis), “and the glory” (shown on an image of a US flag waving in the wind), “for ever and ever” (shown on an image of Trump, Vance and Hegseth saluting), “Amen” (shown over an image of the Pentagon and the words “US Secretary of War”. Frankly, I found that video to be blasphemous and completely unrepresentative of what the Lord’s Prayer is all about. The Lord’s Prayer is about establishing an intimate spiritual relationship with God as a loving “Father”, prioritizing His spiritual kingdom and will over personal desires, and trusting in His provision, forgiveness, and protection, rather than providing an excuse to demonstrate military might. It is not a prayer to justify going to war or to glorify armed forces — especially in terms of gratuitous hostilities rather than legitimate defence of the realm. God’s attitude toward a rapacious, exploitative, or corrupt government is one of severe condemnation, with promises of coming judgment and ultimate justice. Government is the instrument of God to restrain sin and to serve the welfare of the people, not to take a ‘might is right’ stance on conquering the world or to attempt to completely overcome the sin in it, which it can never do. It is the true Church which is the instrument of God to overcome sin in the world through repentance and metanoia (turning one’s life around), changing people from within. To conflate the Christian message with rapacious and rampant government aggression is a severe aberration.
On The White House website, on Friday March 6th, there was posted a video entitled “Justice the American Way”, which depicts numerous brief shots from violent movies to emphasise the theme. (See https://www.whitehouse.gov/videos/justice-the-american-way/ ). You judge for yourself: Is this normal behaviour highlighting a mature, wise, responsible government, or have we entered a bizarre world conjured up by immature wayward zealots who have become unhinged and a danger to humanity?
I leave you with that question and the above article for your wise and cogent consideration. The Lord in heaven help us all…
