They said to me “Why don’t you wear a suit?”
when I went to their church one sunny day.
Because a man is known more by his ‘fruit’,
and whether he lives life in agapé.
“But if you don’t dress up to come in here,
it shows you’ve no respect and just don’t care”.
I’m dressed in shirt and trousers; that’s my gear.
I don’t think God’s concerned with what we wear.
For He cares what goes on within my heart,
as anyone can dress just to impress.
He said Himself what He wants from the start:
That’s justice, mercy and our faithfulness.
So if we want to worship God at root,
that will involve far more than just a suit!
