PEOPLE OFTEN SAY TO ME, “Why don’t you publicize yourself more? You should be read by more people. You need a bigger audience”. No, thank you. The larger the group, the larger the number of impostors, double-faced ones and mountebanks. Why are people always pushing for bigger this and bigger that, as if bigger means better? It doesn’t. Ever. Not in human terms anyway.

First, you have a lovely, dedicated group meeting in people’s homes, then people say you must get a big building on the High Street (and you know where that leads in mainstream compromised Churchland: Harvest Festival garden parties, vicars in rainbow-coloured stoles, soppy songs and a rock band — in other words, playing to the crowd). Then they tell you that you need a mega-building with tens of thousands in it, which in most cases inevitably turns into Vegas-style phony “revivals” and ersatz healing crusades and a truckload of false teaching.

It has taken much for me even to have the present number of people on board. I would much rather be a 100% recluse because people in general are, when push comes to shove, untrustworthy and betray others at the drop of a hat. I speak with much experience of that. I know very well what is in unregenerate Man (cf. Gospel of John, chapter 2, verses 23-25); and there are very many unregenerate folks playing at being “Christians”. VERY many. Plus there are those who take delight in tearing good ministries down. Essentially, there are just so many nutters in the “Christian” scene. Honestly, I do not think that I could put that any more politely. 😊

As far as I am concerned, “success” is not measured in terms of unfettered quantity but in unmitigated quality. This is what I love and aim for. You see, I know that I am only made for small things. This is the truth and I love it. The fact is that I just write for my friends, and their friends if they are interested. That’s all. That is my circle. I like to keep it that way. “My friends” = those who are true disciples of Christ whose minds are not stuck in a box, who do not follow the crowd in religious fashions and fads, who do not indulge in gossip and slander (and who thus are not taken in by it either), who follow the Word rather than the herd, who prefer black forest gateau to Macdonald’s or Dunkin’ Donuts when it comes to teaching. My friends are not stupid. So when someone who subscribes to this website received an email from a professing “Christian” telling her that I am really a Gnostic and that she should avoid me (as has actually happened, believe it or not!), she has the spiritual intelligence to know that it is nonsense and that this is typical of Satan’s way of slandering faithful teachers. On the other hand, when another was told by a ‘deliverance’ ministry “dirt-digger” that I am a closet interfaith ecumenist databasing people for the Antichrist, she believed it, thus proving she isn’t my friend, so she had to go. Bang. Gone. You see, my friends are not stupid. They are people who stand up for their friends and thus do not acquiesce to slander about them. My friends have an inbuilt revulsion for lies and an insatiable appetite for truth, as do I. This is what binds us together as friends. My friends trust me, but not in a slavish, cultlike manner, for they have enough discernment to detect if I am talking bullshit and I have enough awareness to be constantly conscious of the fact that teachers are judged more severely by God than others because of their responsibility (Letter of James, chapter 3, verse 1).

Anyone who is genuinely interested in my writings is a friend. This is why I would never charge money for those writings. One doesn’t ask one’s friends for money to read what one has written! Spiritual materials should always cost nothing (or be at cost price in the case of physical books) which is why the New Age folks show themselves to be so spiritually corrupt, as it’s all about making money from people’s insecurities.

I am made for small things. You may want me to be a bigger thing but even now comparatively few out of the subscribers to this page come here to read what I write. WordPress gives me the statistics for each email notification (but does not identify who they are). Usually 40-50 open the email and it is considerably less who actually open the link to the article. True story. But I am not sitting around wishing it was some phantasmagorically massive figure instead. I write for my friends, not for the herd. The herd loves to have their ears tickled and to accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires rather than what is in line with truth (Second Letter to Timothy, chapter 4, verse 3). The herd is all about subjective feelings rather than objective truth. So I am very glad that you are not counted among that herd.

Although my friends are serious lovers of the deep things of God, they also have a sense of humo(u)r. They are sensitive and gracious. They love beauty and music (hint: incoming music post coming next!); they have interests which go well beyond just “Christian” matters; they perceive the poetry in the kosmos and the mysteries of existence, and they love to leave no stone unturned in their quest for truth. There is no root of bitterness in my friends. They do not have chips on their shoulders or skeletons in their cupboards. They do not suffer from jealousy or harbour grudges. My friends have worked on themselves assiduously (or they aspire to) and they have grown up accordingly (or they aspire to). They know what it is to mortify sin and foolishness (or they aspire to). They are definitively resistant to false teachers and false teaching. They understand the traps of this world and they see through inauthenticity and uphold personal integrity, which they recognise in others too. My friends are those who hold to all the above, or they aspire to if they can find the right people to inspire them to do so.

I would infinitely rather write for my few friends than fall into the ego-trap of wanting a massive audience. And what a trap that is. Non merci! All one attracts under those circumstances is 1) The likelihood of a number of idiots who cause problems, and 2) A harbinger of pride. Thankfully, I am made for small things. I am glad you are my friends. I would lay down my life for my friends.💝
