[Because so many are daunted by a big article, such as the one I posted recently about 666 and the ‘mark of the beast’, I have tried to summarize it here in around 1000 words instead of the 13,000 words which are in the main article. Is 1000 words still too many? Give it a go and find out. I am majoring on two of the Scriptures I quoted because I think that is all it takes to show that the ‘mark of the beast’ cannot be a microchip or any other material thing, about which a virtual cult has developed as a complete distraction from the truth].
THE BEAST IN REVELATION 13 is the symbol of the satanic world-system both in terms of government (first beast) and religion/philosophy/science/technology (second beast) insofar as it supports the governmental aspect of the beast. The second beast promotes all the interests and achievements of the first beast. This is why the second beast is also called “the false prophet” (Revelation 19:20). It is essential to realise that the beast is not just an Endtimes thing. The beast was around in John’s time when the Book of Revelation was being written, epitomised as the antichristian Roman state, and it is still around today and will be until the end of the age, though gathering in intensity as the end draws near. It builds to a climax which will issue in a global government (manifestation of the first beast) and a confederated religious movement (manifestation of the second beast) which promotes it. The absolute ultimate manifestation of the beast will be the Antichrist, when he is revealed. Here is the first text that I am sharing here. Read it carefully:
“The second beast required all people, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark—the name of the beast or the number of its name. Here is a call for wisdom: Let the one who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and that number is 666. Then I looked and saw the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him 144,000 who had His name and His Father’s name written on their foreheads” (Revelation 13:16 – 14:1).
Looking at the biblical context in these Scriptures, we see above (check it out) that the ‘mark of the beast’ is juxtaposed within three verses in the text with the name of Christ and the Father being on the foreheads of the faithful. (Remember that there were no chapter divisions in the original manuscripts). See also the words I have put in bold text to show that there is a comparison being made. It is clear that both ‘marks’ are symbols as no one has the actual name of Christ and the Father written on their foreheads. They both plainly symbolise allegiance or even ownership. One cannot sit on the fence. One either has an allegiance to the satanic world-system (the beast) or to the Christ (the Lamb). Wouldn’t you rather be aligned with a Lamb than a wild beast?!? If one claims to be neutral, one is nevertheless owned by the beast. Discipleship to Christ involves active commitment. When the Antichrist will be revealed, never will it have been more clear about one’s true allegiance, and it is disciples of Christ who will be hunted down to be arrested and killed and NOT those without a microchip! The ‘mark of the beast’ has nothing to do with microchips on the body, the idea of which has become a virtual cult among those who have not studied the Book of Revelation. It has to do with who one worships and who owns you, who has made his mark on you. Just as a disciple of Christ is “marked” by the Lamb and the Father as theirs, so anyone who does obeisance to the world-system — the might of the state (and thereby to Satan himself who is behind it), collectively, the beast — is marked by that beast as being owned by it, as being owned by Satan (symbolised as the dragon) who empowers the beast (Revelation 13:4). There can be no neutrality. One is either Satan’s or Christ’s (the beast’s or the Lamb’s). To not be Christ’s is to be Satan’s, whether one likes that idea or not.
Further proof that the ‘mark of the beast’ cannot possibly be something as ridiculously mundane as a microchip on the body can be found in the fact that to have the ‘mark of the beast’ means that one will be consigned to hell by God:
“If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on his forehead or on his hand, he too will drink the wine of God’s anger, poured undiluted into the cup of His wrath. And he will be tormented in fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment rises forever and ever. Day and night there is no rest for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name” (Revelation 14:9-11).
This is very serious. It is not for merely having a microchip that one will be consigned to that terrible eternal destiny. That would not make a scrap of sense. It will be because one has thrown in one’s lot with the satanic world-system and thereby with Satan himself. To give one’s whole allegiance to the satanic world-system (worshipping the beast) and thereby to Satan himself (the dragon) has life-changing consequences. Even common sense tells you that a mere microchip would not do that. The second death (hell) comes to a person through rejecting the Christ and His teachings — through denying that the Christ has come in the flesh and thereby continuing in one’s sin and self-centred way of life (1 John 2:22; 20:14-15; 21:8). When the Antichrist is revealed (the ultimate manifestation of the beast), it will be like a litmus test exposing those who are the real disciples of the genuine Christ, for they are the ones who will not receive him and will thus not have the ‘mark of the beast’.
The notion about a microchip or similar material item as the ‘mark of the beast’ is a distraction to make you imagine that by refusing to be chipped by the state you will be avoiding hell, which is sheer nonsense. The only way to avoid hell is to be a disciple of Christ. For those who say there is no such thing as hell, then it is clear that they have never studied their Bibles and certainly never studied the words of the Christ, but instead have been taken in by false teachers. To claim that the ’mark of the beast’ is a microchip or similar material thing is as much of a false teaching as claiming that there is no such thing as hell.

We seem to understand that the “man with the inkhorn” in Ezekiel, who marks those who weep for Israel, is not physically marking them.
I appreciate the summary. A true poet can reveal the beauty of the jewel without the setting.
