This is a piece that I have needed to write for some time. But I’ve been waiting for the opportune moment, which is now. I am, of course, referring to the killing of that lady in Minneapolis last week.

After writing that three-part sonnet about the incident which put it in its wider context, I’ve had people coming at me about it, mainly professing Christians. Others, too, have been pilloried because they dared to call this “murder” rather than justice. Here are some samples of the kind of things which have been said by professing Christians: “But she’s a woke lesbian married to a woman!” “Let’s face it, she deserved it”. “She should have been at home looking after her kids”. “She deliberately set out to murder ICE agents”. And many other similar things. In various media I have seen such comments as “Good riddance to bad rubbish”, “The stupid bitch deserved everything she had coming to her!” “The world is now a better place”. “They should have shot her wife too”. “One less POS”. “She’s a domestic terrorist, for heaven’s sake!” “That’s what happens when you weaponize your vehicle”. “Fuck with ICE and you get iced!” And very many more. You can see here how hard-hearted and callous so many people are today, which is something I have observed on social media for some time. Now let’s just crack wide open what is really going on here…

A few days ago, I quoted George Orwell from his book, “1984”: “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command”. Indeed. Because once you have successfully done that, then you control ‘reality’ for everyone. And if that ‘reality’ is false, then you have exchanged true reality for real falsehood. This is classic applied totalitarian ideology. When a government tells you huge untruths which can easily be proved to be false yet persists in telling them and even doubles down on them after being challenged with the truth by reporters, with many representatives from that government repeating the same huge lies, it is working from a playbook. For we have here being proven the psychological principle that repetition lends credibility to statements regardless of their factual or non-factual basis. Then when those false statements are subsequently repeated by so many brainwashed clones who cannot think for themselves and who cannot recognise a lie anymore, those lies become ‘facts’. As the neo-Gnostic scientist Lyall Watson has said: “When a myth is shared by large numbers of people, it becomes a reality” (Lyall Watson, Lifetide (Hodder & Stoughton, 1979), p.158). All totalitarian regimes use this tactic — tell huge lies and stick with them. It’s a form of brainwashing to manipulate the gullible public. They make statements which are outrageously and provably false — the bigger the lies the better — then keep repeating them. They use their authority to present their lies as if they were the truth. Then huge swathes of people will believe those lies because of their pre-hypnotic conditioning. This will be happening all over the world until, eventually the whole world will reject truth in every form, the evidence of its eyes, and believe the Lie (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12).

An example of how a lie becomes reality for so many is in the use of the term “weaponize”. It is a very powerful word which is designed to discredit a person as if they were a weapon themselves. A number of people have repeated this to me after I wrote a triple sonnet depicting the evil of this event: “But she weaponized her vehicle”, they said, which was a lie imprinted in the minds of the masses by extreme assertions of a hypnotic kind from politicians. This is all straight out of the totalitarian playbook. Imprinting hugely false information in people’s gullible minds, right at the outset, before the blood of the crime has even had time to dry. I’m going to give some examples now of those blatant lies, to demonstrate to you the technique in action. Remember that even after these statements have been proven to be lies, those who lied do not retract them — they even double-down on them despite their plainly absurd falsehood —and those under the power of the leaders will continue to propagate those lies and to demonise those who exposed them as lies and who offered the facts. This is how control operates. This is how it all worked in “1984”. We are watching the psychological techniques of warfare propaganda in action, just as with the propaganda machine of “IngSoc” in “1984”. Now let me give some examples so that you can see the stupendous nature of the mendacity.

BLATANT LIE #1: “Rioters began blocking ICE officers and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them – an act of domestic terrorism”. That was from an early post on ‘X’ by the Department of Homeland Security. The immediate imprinting is that the perp was “violent”, “weaponized her vehicle”, and was a “domestic terrorist” who tried to run down and kill law enforcement officers. This was all completely untrue and is easily proven to be so. Furthermore, there was no “riot” taking place. This was the start of the programming of the public.

BLATANT LIE #2: “ICE agents repeatedly ordered her to get out of the car and to stop obstructing law enforcement, but she refused to obey their commands. She then proceeded to weaponize her vehicle and she attempted to run a law enforcement officer over. This appears as an attempt to kill or to cause bodily harm to agents, an act of domestic terrorism. The ICE officer fearing for his life and the other officers around him and the safety of the public fired defensive shots. He used his training to save his own life and that of his colleagues. He was treated at a local hospital, has been released and is now with family”. That was Kristi Noem, the secretary of the department of homeland security, on the day of the killing. All of it was nonsense, as can be seen from the many videos.

BLATANT LIE #3: “The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense. Based on the attached clip, it is hard to believe he is alive, but is now recovering in the hospital”. That is from Donald Trump’s ‘Truth Social’ statement on January 7th. It is a ridiculous litany of deep lies. All of it. “Hard to believe he is alive”? I have never read such rubbish in my life. And this is from the supposed leader of a country. There is much video which shows that the killer calmly walked over to the shot woman’s vehicle, after he had shot her, to check the result of his handiwork, then he calmly walked away, as if it was all of no consequence.

BLATANT LIE #4: “She behaved horribly. And then she ran him over. She didn’t try to run him over. She ran him over”. That claim was made by Donald Trump to the New York Times on the night of Wednesday 7th January and printed by them on the 8th. But no one was “run over”. Once again, that claim is completely insane.

BLATANT LIE #5: “Today, ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking  ICE officers and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism. An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots.  He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers.  The alleged perpetrator was hit and is deceased. The ICE officers who were hurt are expected to make full recoveries”. This is from Tricia McLaughlin, homeland security assistant secretary, in a post on ‘X’ on January 7th. Have you ever read such nonsense in your life? Another litany of lies, as is easily provable from viewing the many videos of the event.

These various lies have been repeated ad nauseam by these people. But this is not an accident, or the result of “bad intel”. This is straight out of the totalitarian dictator’s playbook, as was shown in great detail in Orwell’s “1984”. “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command”. So the government can just lie and lie and lie and no one brings them to book. Even if they are challenged by reporters, they simply double-down on their lies and say, “Can’t you see it in the videos?” And you can see the reporters’ faces as they struggle to come to terms with what is unfolding before their eyes. As I said above, we have here the psychological principle that repetition lends credibility to statements regardless of their factual basis. It is the ultimate in what is now known as “gaslighting”.

The terrible thing is that one expects the gullible right-wing non-Christian public to be taken in by all these lies. But when professing Christians quote chunks out of the above politicians’ statements as if they were all true, a line has been crossed and the efficacy of the hypnotic conditioning has been proven. The MAGA cult, even when they are part of the so-called “Christian Right” (as was the shooter in the Minneapolis event), is full of people with a rage which seethes against ‘woke’ liberals, especially if they are lesbians, and rejoices when they are shot. So they will believe anything, even if it goes against the evidence of their eyes and ears, for the Party has told them to reject that evidence, and the Party doesn’t lie.🙄

This is all about the normalisation of martial law — violent, state-protected, armed goons patrolling the streets. Many, if not most, of those ICE agents are MAGA people with a military/contractor background (like the shooter of the woman). It is Trump’s private army of mercenaries, just like the Brownshirts (Stormtroopers) of Hitler. The multiple billions upon billions of $$$ spent on ICE and its detainment facilities is phenomenal, and it now has a larger budget than most of the world’s militaries (see https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/ice-funding-world-militaries-b2790466.html ).

You can see which way the wheels are turned and you can hear the shots in the video, so turn on the sound. One from the front to the face. Then two from the side to the head to finish her off. No threats.

The weird thing is that I will now get people hurling Romans 13 in my face, saying that it is our place to get behind all governments, even if you do not agree with them. But that is a lie and a deliberate (and tendentious) misreading of Paul’s words. If you read verses 3-4, they give a major clue to the meaning.

“Rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Now do you desire not to fear the authority? Do the good, and you will have praise from him. For he is God’s servant to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For He is God’s servant, an avenger for wrath to the one doing evil”.

The clear reference there is to a government which punishes evil and rewards good — that the government is “God’s servant to you for good”, a benign government which punishes evil. But what if the government itself is evil, waging psychological and actual warfare against its own people, such as in the USA?

At this point, some will say that maybe God has deliberately placed an incompetent and/or amoral leader in a position of power as His judgment on a nation and therefore we have to honour that and submit to it. Obviously, He may well have done so. However, whether or not God has done such a thing has no impact on whether or not we submit to ungodly laws or remain silent about atrocities committed by ungodly governments. That is another issue altogether. For, although the Lord may have brought an evil government into power as a judgement on a people, it is not indicative of His positive approval of that government or its actions, but merely of His permissive will.

The fact that God may permit a brutal tyrant to come to power for His own judgemental purposes does not mean that we must therefore approve of all that tyrant’s actions or that we must meekly obey everything which that tyrant demands of us. On the contrary, if we are to be true to our God-given morality and values as disciples of Christ, we are distinctly called to non-violent civil disobedience under certain circumstances. At the very least, we are entitled to speak publicly and judgementally about the amoral actions of a cruel, corrupt and rapacious government.

Of course, this does not mean that we are free to break any civil laws which are enacted by a corrupt government. We have to uphold the law of the land at all times if that law does not conflict with the law of God. We are only free to resist those civil laws or expose government actions which go against God’s laws (and lying certainly goes against them, Exodus 20:16; Leviticus 19:11; Proverbs 12:22; 19:5). However, we are not to behave like hotheads or in a fit of hysteria, but in considered wisdom and as ambassadors of Christ. It is a question of faithfulness. We must not be like the toadying chief priests who said to Pontius Pilate, “We have no king but Caesar!” (John 19:15). Our King is Christ, God manifested in the flesh. In other words, we are called to “obey God rather than people” (Acts 5:29) when there is a conflict between the law of God and the laws of men. We are not called to endorse evil but to expose it and resist it.

It is the duty of the disciple of Christ to expose and to stand up against corruption in all walks of life. It is certainly his or her duty not to be brainwashed by, nor to endorse, nor to give credence to, or tacitly go along with the corruption of civil authorities. As the conservative theologian, John Murray, put it so succinctly:

“To declare the whole counsel of God in reference to political matters, as well as other matters, is definitely an ecclesiastical function… If it [the church] is to be faithful to its commission it must make its voice heard and felt in reference to public questions. The church may not supinely stand aside and ignore political corruption, for example, on the ground that to pronounce judgment on such issues is to intermeddle in politics. Political corruption is sin, it is public sin, and the church denies its vocation if it does not reprove it” [Prof. John Murray, Collected Writings, Banner of Truth, Vol. 1, pp. 256-7].

Most Christians seem to think that such civil disobedience or the reproving of civil authorities is not for them but only for those ‘Christians’ who will be around at the time of the end when the Antichrist is in power. However, this is not the case at all. For ‘antichrist’ with a small “a” is the driving force behind governmental power long before the actual “Antichrist” is revealed on the world stage. All of this is, in fact, the ‘spirit of the Antichrist’ (1 John 4:3). We are never to be aligned in any way with the ‘spirit of the Antichrist’, and we have multiple-doses of that today in many governments.

The power which showed itself in Nazi Germany for a brief time is the same power which lies behind the empire of the ‘New World Order’ today, spearheaded by successive “neo-conservative” usurper governments (of both red and blue) and pseudo-liberals in the USA — not to mention the Neo-Stalinist Trump regime there today. Make no mistake, this is not merely a political or governmental scenario. It has massive spiritual ramifications for every disciple of Christ alive today. Until Christians understand the fact that politics and governance engender spiritual fallout, there will continue to be a vast veil of ignorance in the compromised churches. A US missionary in Peru wrote the following words to me some years ago:

“It is a terrible reality that many Christians can be complicit in murder and genocide simply through silence. I have just read a book on Nazi Germany and how the Church was complicit in its support of Hitler. The majority of Pastors signed allegiance to Hitler and the confessing Church also capitulated through the persecution. Out of the thousands of Pastors very few stood up against the injustice and murder. In times like that Bible Study and prayer in silence without standing up against injustice is to be complicit with tyranny.

“One man shamefully mentioned that behind his Church the trains used to pass and they could hear the sounds of the Jews screaming as the train went by. He said they all just sang their hymns louder to drown the cries! These so-called Christians who write such words want to forget about justice and have their Bible Studies and prayer meetings. But in some circumstances, such as took place in Germany, Christians who fight for justice would have the choice of living or dying. Saving their lives for Hitler and their country, or standing with the oppressed and persecuted. Losing their lives for Christ and the Gospel was a path few chose, but the sifting of the Church blew away the chaff and revealed what higher critics and liberalism left in the Church in Germany. The Cross was replaced with the Swastika in the Churches.

“These same people who interpret Romans 13 in the same way will also go along with the tide of iniquity when it comes and find comfort in their Bible Studies and prayer while the Antichrist goes about his vile wickedness. I for one pray that if we ever find ourselves in the same situation that by the grace of God we will be willing to give our lives and stand with the oppressed and persecuted whatever the cost. There are many striking parallels between what happened then and what is gathering pace in our day, especially in the churches in America”.

These parallels are very sobering. Remember this: The disciples of Christ, above all others, are in the business ofUNdeceiving people. The business of the true disciple of Christ is to bring people out of bondage and illusion into the light of genuine understanding. The business of the true disciple of Christ is to see right through the foolishness of this evil world and to stand apart from it — not to assist it or propagate it or to ignore it.

How often have professing ‘Christians’ merely propped up evil and corrupt regimes — whether in Germany, South Africa, the United States of America, or wherever? If I had lived in Nazi Germany or Apartheid South Africa I would have been incarcerated or even assassinated by the corrupt powers there because, as a faithful disciple of Christ, I would not have been able to support their destructive policies and keep my mouth shut. I even got into trouble from Americans when the USA was waging an illegal war against Iraq, all based on lies about weapons of mass destruction. (Hence the accompanying double image of George W. Bush and Donald Trump as presenting a lying façade to the American people, using a trope from the rather interesting film, “They Live”, 1988). We are dealing with governments which present themselves as benign but are in reality serving the forces of darkness, which can only be seen if the scales have fallen from your eyes (or you wear the right sunglasses, as in “They Live”! 😎). If I lived today in neoconservative or Neo-Stalinist America, I would no doubt have the Homeland Security bozos constantly breathing down my neck because I cannot support their perverted understanding of patriotism or go along with their pretended “war against terrorism” (when they are the terrorists) or acquiesce to their massive promotion of A.I. and Transhumanism, which is really a facade to bring totalitarianism in by the backdoor!

One of the problems has been that of giving patriotism almost a religious status. Because of the religious connotations of “the stars and stripes” and the association of patriotic or military rallies with hymns and religious occasions, many professing ‘Christians’ have come to identify spiritual faith with faithfulness to a country. The pomposity and gravitas of patriotism thus becomes confused with religious worship. This is one of the main reasons that national anthems bear an extraordinary resemblance to hymns and the fact that flags are hung in churches. A kind of touchstone begins to be used whereby the more patriotic a person is the more spiritual he feels he has become or is even regarded. But when you become a disciple of Christ, you are part of the only transnational body in the world, and while you will seek the wellbeing of your country of birth or home, your mind and soul have transcended national boundaries on a spiritual level and your battles are spiritual ones rather than all that indulgent jingoism and serial physical wars.

This religio-patriotism is the mindset which took hold so powerfully in Nazi Germany, where there was a crazed desire to “make Germany great again”. The “fatherland” then becomes a kind of idol from which all things flow and is confused with the true God and godliness. (For only God is our Father). Strange notions begin to be held about the special uniqueness of one’s country and its people. A purist fanaticism sets in and others are judged for their spiritual faithfulness according to their level of patriotism. Unpatriotic people, or even those who do not put a flag outside their house, are then judged to be ungodly and treacherous. However, it is very easy to turn one’s ‘fatherland’ into an idol, and at that point it has crossed the line. All that putting of one’s hand on one’s heart (into which even young schoolchildren are brainwashed as a startling parallel to Chinese schoolkids reciting chunks of Mao Tse-tung’s [Mao Zedong’s] Little Red Book) while reciting the ‘pledge of allegiance’ or while singing the national anthem, is a kind of idolatry which should have no place in the life of a faithful disciple of Christ, who should be the only one to whom we give our allegiance and pledge our hearts.

The misplaced patriotism of many otherwise law-abiding and respectable people has led to them supporting their government to such an extent that they have thereby backed war crimes and supported corrupt governance which must be repugnant to God. It happened in Nazi Germany and it is still happening today in the USA — being defensive about the corruptions of the FBI and the CIA which they extol, wanting to believe so much (in the face of all the odds!) that one’s president is ‘a Christian’. I remember when many people were claiming to me that Donald Trump (who was brought up in Norman Vincent Peale’s wayward ‘prosperity consciousness’ “church” in New York) had been “sent by God” and how he had a wonderful spiritual advisor/pastor. But it was all a QAnon chimera, and his advisor/pastor is a wacko female false teacher on the charismatic 7MM spectrum who you can see here praying for him to win an election in that pagan gobbledygook known as “tongues” (which is not the biblical gift of languages): https://www.youtube.com/shorts/0KgME1jo5VQ . Madness. Absolute madness. Yet, Trump’s brainwashed supporters will still not think there is anything peculiar about appointing such a patent nutcase (and, by the way, raving ecumenist) to lead his “White House Faith Office”. The visible church really has become a madhouse.

The time has come, as radical disciples of Christ, to stand up and be counted. It is not our place to be manipulated by a compromised media and corrupt government, but rather to “expose/reprove/confute/refute the works of darkness”, so that we are better equipped as evangelists. Yes! As evangelists! How can people take us seriously as purveyors of spiritual truth if we so easily accept and propagate worldly lies, especially those spewed out from the mendacious mouths of government representatives? Surely, the two are entirely incompatible.

The business of the disciple of Christ (and, above all, the business of church elders) is the proclamation of truth and the dismantling of falsehood in all its forms — even though it is guaranteed to get his or her character assassinated by mainstream ‘Christians’ or body assassinated by the big players in the secular scene.

The disciple of Christ cannot proclaim the gospel with any credibility if he or she either ignores or gives the nod to institutionalized corruption of any kind. Neither can he or she be expected to be taken seriously as a servant of truth if he or she is a sycophant to corrupt powers and if he or she toadies tamely to oppressive, mendacious or destructive regimes.

How can someone who is plainly brainwashed by the crude manipulations of this world have any credibility whatsoever as an evangelist telling the truth about Jesus Christ who is Himself the embodiment of truth, life and the pathway to God (John 14:6)? Surely, to be credible evangelists and disciples of Christ, those disciples must be willing and able to stand up and be counted as those who resist and expose evil, whether it is in the world or in the church.

Our submission to government will always be conditional on whether or not we are being asked to submit to demands which are incompatible with the law of God. The more mendacious, evil or corrupt a government becomes — i.e., the more it moves away from fulfilling its true mandate from God to enforce civil order and care for the welfare of the people — the more we will have to resist it.

The early church understood this well. In times of open persecution, the real church always knew it. But in today’s religious atmosphere — where religious fashions and fads and deciding which soppy chorus to sing are more important than being the spiritual people of the counter-culture — Christianity at large (though with notable exceptions) has become synonymous with the achievement of temporary earthly elements such as health, wealth and community status (not to mention the ‘spirited’ antics of the charismatic movement, which makes the Church into a laughingstock).

Despite the tragedy of it, I have found this event in Minnesota to be extremely eye-opening and revealing — not only revealing concerning the extent to which leaders of a huge nation are willing to lie through their teeth despite all the evidence to the contrary but also revealing in terms of the way in which so many professing “Christians” are ready and willing to propagate those lies because it suits their political shibboleths.

May we all perseveringly exercise discernment and insight, resisting the lies of the world (and those of the visible church) while ensuring that we keep our heads when all around us are losing theirs. For only then will we be worthy representatives of the “God of truth and fidelity, without injustice, righteous and upright is He” (Deuteronomy 32:4).
