Human “civilisation” was founded on 1) a satanic lie (that human beings can delude themselves into thinking that they are little gods) and 2) a gullible audience (Genesis 3:1-6). That same civilization has subsisted on a constant diet of lies from its demonic ‘rulers, ‘leaders’ and ‘soothsayers’, and its end will be portended by a satanic lie which it will have been primed to believe (2 Thessalonians 2:11-12). There are many kinds of lies in this world — e.g. idle gossip of unconfirmed circumstances, bearing false witness, malicious manipulation, withholding crucial information in order to deceive, gross exaggeration, paltering, gaslighting, etc. But among the most pernicious lies of all are those which we tell ourselves in order to avoid having to face the truth about the world, about ourselves, and about our relations with others. Unless and until we are fully prepared to face the truth about ourselves, about the way we relate to others, and about the rubrics of the world in which we exist, we will live a life which is itself one big lie. Small wonder, then, that living and believing the lie leads directly to “the second death” (Revelation 21:8), which is a realistic but ever so slightly more delicate expression for the reality of hell. Bottom line: Our primary purpose in receiving the gift of life is to discover that which is true and to live it. For truth and the lie each have their own individual sources. The truth of God is the antithesis of the lie of Satan and will overrule it completely and visibly when that moment is right (i.e. when human “civilization” has run its course, according to the counsel of God).
Here endeth some elementary teaching 101 on “The Lie”. If you would like some much deeper teaching about this which shows how “The Lie” has made its way through the passage of history in some astonishing ways, right through to the present day and beyond, please read the 1044-page second edition of my book, “The Serpent and the Cross”.
