The creation is “in bondage to decay”, from which it will one day be “set free” (Romans 8:20-21). But for now even the beauties of Autumn (Fall) have their roots in the Genesis 3 Fall-based corruption and decay, as the sonnet below asserts…
The year is dying, as it always does.
Leaves are falling; replenishing the earth.
Misty mornings create a dreamlike buzz.
It’s all part of the changing year’s rebirth.
It all may look romantic to the eye:
The mists, migrating birds, and sunsets red;
the yellows, browns, and harvest moons on high;
the cosy early evenings going to bed.
But when these things are seen for what they are —
as products of corruption and decay,
for death is just not normal but bizarre —
we’ll see them in a very different way.
It’s strange to think these “beauties” did begin
because of Adam’s atavistic sin!
