Sonnet 1:

Sometimes I feel there’s little purpose left
in speaking out about this world’s demise.
I watch it all take place and feel bereft
at how plain truth so many now despise.

Scum always rises to the surface in
a stagnant pond through microbes underneath.
This is the way that evil seems to win —
apathy of the masses does bequeath.

Yet here I must repeat the words of John,
the Apostle who Jesus loved the most.
He wrote of a germane phenomenon:
The world is under Satan’s power foremost.

And so it’s no surprise that evil takes
the lead with all the masses birthed as ‘snakes’.

Sonnet 2:

But like a frog can turn into a prince
in fairy tales and old mythology,
so ‘snakes’ can lose what Satan thus imprints
within their souls — change their identity!

A human ‘snake’ can undo Satan’s hold
upon their hearts and minds if they will see
that they have to that devil wholly sold
themselves — made blind, unable to be free.

But only if God wills it they will then
be able to relinquish snakedom’s sway.
That only comes by being born again;
and thus to Christ the Saviour they must pray.

So when I speak about this world’s demise,
I must at the same time say, “Please get wise!”

Sonnet 3:

Such wisdom is the most important thing
to have in life — more even than great wealth —
takes precedence o’er all to which we cling.
It’s even more important than good health.

For wisdom always then discerns the truth
which is what evil warlords wholly dread.
Those scum live just for blood and lies forsooth.
For them, the only wise one’s one that’s dead.

So spice and salt your words with truths which hurt
the scum of evil rising to the top.
For truth’s the main ingredient to subvert
those many antichrists who lie nonstop.

To ‘snakes’ who shake off Satan, shed their skin,
I sing, “You’ve joined God’s army, poised to win!”
