THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY (AND FOR THE YEARS AHEAD)
I saw that a friend truthfully wrote that “Truth is the winner”. Yes, that in itself is true, BUT I have to qualify that by saying that it is very rarely SEEN to win in this present world. In fact, it is usually seen to be stifled and suppressed by the Lie. The vast majority of people do not have a love of the truth, whatever they may say. Truth must be the most lip-serviced element in the cosmos, and will be right to the end of this age. And when the very end of this age comes, when the Antichrist, the “man of lawlessness” is finally revealed (the ultimate manifestation of human rebellion against God), he will be hailed by the vast majority in this world as their great saviour precisely “because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them” (Second Letter to the Thessalonians, chapter 2, verses 9-10). When people turn away from loving the truth, they will be given over increasingly to believe the lie. This is always the case. It is both a Divine and natural law.
If people loved truth, they would not acquiesce passively to the corrupt satanic world-system. If people loved truth, they would not allow themselves to be dissuaded from it by family, friends, peers, ‘educational’ institutions and corrupt governments. If people loved truth, they wouldn’t even vote, for it really counts for nothing and just perpetuates the lie of democracy! If they really loved truth, they would immediately pledge themselves as Christ’s disciples and vow to eschew darkness. But the vast majority in this world do not love truth, and it will be this way right to the end of this age. And then, because they have not loved truth, “God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie, in order that judgment may come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness” (Second Letter to the Thessalonians, chapter 2, verses 11-12). Failing to love truth and stand up for it is the equivalent of delighting in wickedness, and such wickedness (unrighteousness) always suppresses truth (Letter to the Romans, chapter 1, verse 18). There can be no neutrality. The end of this age will be the climax of the deception and delusion which plagues (and has always plagued) this fallen world which is rooted in the lie. The big lie is that God is not God and that humans can set themselves up as little gods, just as Satan predicted (and set in place) in the beginning (Book of Genesis, chapter 3, verse 5).
To refuse to rejoice in truth in all its fullness is the equivalent of idolatry, for one then makes an idol out of oneself and out of the lie. God’s verdict on the idolater is that “His deluded heart has led him astray, and he cannot deliver himself or say, ‘Is not this thing in my right hand a lie?’” (Isaiah 44:20). That’s the thing: To deny truth means that one cannot even have any comprehension that one is then idolising the lie.
Yes, my dear friend, truth is ultimately the winner, but not really visibly so in this world in its present form. We are right in the midst of the time to which Paul referred: “For the time will come when people will not tolerate healthy teaching. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear; and indeed they will turn away from hearing the truth, and will be turned aside unto myths” (Second Letter to Timothy, chapter 2, verses 3-4). This is as much true in the world as it is in the visible church — and more so each day. We are living in the midst of cloud-cuckoo-land in which mostpeople are ‘away with the fairies’ when it comes to discerning truth, no matter how ‘nice’ people may appear to be on the surface. Scratch away at that smooth-looking surface for a bit and you will find a tsunami of anger, resentment, denial, accusations, shoulder-chips, indignation, umbrage, slanders and intricate defence-mechanisms that will tie you in knots like spaghetti in a cauldron.
Those who actually do stand up for truth in all its fullness and receive it into their hearts are comparatively very few in this world. Some may say that they stand for truth, like the so-called “Truthers” (and social media is full of them, going on about this conspiracy or that) but because they will not accept the truth about the Christ they are living in complete contradiction. One cannot ‘cherry-pick’ when it comes to defending or upholding the truth. Here is the bottom-line: The only real truthers are those who love the Christ. Those who are really truth-lovers will embrace Him. As He said Himself: “For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, that I may bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice” (Gospel of John, chapter 18, verse 37). Period. End of.
Visibly, truth is the LOSER in this world which is largely under the power of Satan (First Letter of John, chapter 5, verse 19). Invisibly, and ultimately, it is the VANQUISHER par excellence (Gospel of John, chapter 8, verses 31-32). If one really stands for truth in this world — the whole truth and nothing but the truth — with few exceptions, one will be pretty much alone. As someone once said nearly a millennium ago:
“In matters of faith and science I am more impressed by one evident reason or by one authoritative passage of Holy Scripture correctly understood than by the chorus of mankind. I am not ashamed to be convinced of truth. In fact, to have truth victorious over me I consider the most useful thing for me. But I never want to be defeated by the multitude. It may, indeed, be read in the sacred utterances that the multitude, as a rule, errs, and that very often one solitary man may put all the rest to flight” (William of Ockham, 1285-1347).
Amen!

“If people loved truth, they wouldn’t even vote, for it really counts for nothing and just perpetuates the lie of democracy!” This statement reflects what was already decided in my heart a year before living in Christ, but now rings true for a righteous reason!
