LIVING-ROOM VIDEO #107: “Spiritual Perfume”. Hello, you lovely people! Here is a new song, completed 30 minutes before I recorded it, which juxtaposes the state of the world with the beauty of nature in many different aspects. I hope you find it thoughtfully uplifting. The video is below the lyrics. Here are the lyrics:
I’d like to write a dirge about
the state of play today.
But how do I express chaos in song?
At times I wish I was a child
immersed only in play.
But that is inappropriate and wrong.
Cacophony would work, I think,
but such is not my style.
Why add to what’s already going on?
So I must here bring beauty in
to make my listeners smile —
a rare facially-posed phenomenon.
[Refrain]
For the beauty contained in the natural sphere
can temper the depths of your gloom.
So imagine how heaven will bring so much cheer —
the aroma of spiritual perfume.
I saw primroses on my walk
today; they gave me cheer.
In yellow and magenta-pink they were.
Also, a weeping-willow glowed
in green: Spring must be here!
So many new life symbols now do stir.
I felt the sun’s rays on my cheek
while striding over fields.
There’s more than merely warmth within those beams.
That star’s a mighty metaphor;
such healing force it yields,
and unseen benediction from it streams.
[Refrain]
When love and empathy are treasured in your heart
you could not wanton hurt, or maim, or kill.
When there’s a melody from God you will depart
from glorifying stupid human will.
A bird called to me overhead;
it’s beak contained some straw.
Strand by strand it builds its nestly home.
I called back to it with “Hello!”
while humans wage their war.
Birds are colour. People, monochrome.
The wind embraced my face today
as I enjoyed the buds
on trees which come alive each year in Spring…
while crude, uncultured, violent men
delight in shedding blood,
destroying all that nature’s ripening.
[Refrain]
When I compare all the deeds of ruthless Man
with nature’s resplendent bouquet,
I can see that those reprobates don’t give a damn
and from truth they’re forever astray.
So now I bring this to an end;
though it could go on for days,
as I compare fair nature to the world.
Won’t overstay my welcome here
and leave you in a daze.
This is a love-song at your heart I’ve hurled.

Thank you. First Day of Spring is Near and everything will be green again and rabbits go through the Briar Bush in back and all sorts of animals come Near. And flowers soon to bloom in my little garden and I joyfully look forward to it. And the world just rages on.
