THERE ARE NO “GOOD GUYS” in this (yet again) Middle-East war. It is two types of evil versus another type of evil — all striving for their imaginary advantages; yet all lacking one key element: Divine endorsement, though each imagines they have it from their made-in-their-own-image ‘god’. Yes, all three of those evil entities indulge in the fantasy that their ‘god’ is on their side. All three are misusing their respective religious texts to justify their murderous bellicosity. However, this is not a sign that we are in the Endtimes, as many seem to claim these days. This is all just an extension of what Jesus referred to as “wars and rumours of wars” (Matthew 24:6), which is just one of a number of features and characteristics of the entire age from Jesus’ ascension onwards — though increasing in intensity as the age draws on.

The US administration (thugs in suits) thinks it is accelerating the return of Christ with its military exploits (as I showed in my article the other day: “The War on Iran: A Product of Nutty Dominionist Eschatology”). But the Bible is very clear on the fact that the return of Christ cannot happen until two events have first taken place: 1) The completion of the great apostasy and 2) the revealing of the “man of lawlessness” a.k.a. the sorcerous and satanically-energised Antichrist (see 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3). That the apostasy is well underway is clear; one only has to look around at the moral chaos, doctrinal lunacy and rampant mendacity in the world and in the visible Church to see that! But it still has some way to go before reaching its climax. The revealing of the Antichrist will be intimately connected with the setting up of a global government; but we have not reached that stage yet either, though it seems to be increasingly in the offing. Therefore, we are not yet in the actual Endtimes. We are certainly in “the last days” and have been since the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Christ, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (cf. Acts 2:16-17). But that is not to be confused with the Endtimes.

To apostatise (the act of apostasy) means an abandonment of faithful allegiance to something solid, or the renunciation of moral principles, or a complete betrayal of religious or spiritual affiliation. An alternative expression would be ‘utter rebellion’. Apostasy is not a mere falling away from the faith by the outwardly previously faithful (i.e., a purely religious apostasy). It is much more than that. The great apostasy involves an all-out revolt against natural and Divine law, a mass global rebellion against the one true God the Creator by the created, an increasingly insistent denial that the Christ has come in the flesh, and the resultant hubristic promotion of the self. This all-out revolt is and will be just as apparent in the visible Church as in the secular world in general. To apostatise represents a disintegration of moral and spiritual principles into godless betrayal, debauchery, degeneracy, depravity, corruption and licentiousness. Those last descriptive words and phrases sum up what will be the state of the world just prior to Christ’s return — the climax of the great apostasy. We are on the way towards that now but not there yet. Believe it or not, worse is still to come.

So all these wars and rumours of wars — involving all the dumb, stupid carryings-on of pig-ignorant politicians and other movers and shakers on the world stage — are all part of the “beginning of birth-pains” referred to by Jesus in His great sermon on the Mount of Olives (Matthew 24:8). That is a very interesting and pregnant (pun intended) use of the term by the Lord there. One thus has to see the present age (from Christ’s ascension to His coming again) in the manner of the period of gestation of a foetus. What does such a gestation represent? It represents the age to come, the regeneration of the cosmos. Just as the gestation of a human foetus has to go through stages which involve discomfort and increasing pain leading to the birth of the child, so the transition of this present corrupt age has to go through a process involving increasing anguish and distress leading to the age to come, which will be populated by those faithful to God and His Christ. Wars and rumours of wars — an expression of the corruption of human nature throughout this present evil age — are part of that anguish and distress, as are the famines and earthquakes mentioned by Matthew, along with the “pandemics, fearful sights, and great signs from heaven” mentioned in Luke 21:11. Ignorant scientists may attempt to pass some of these things off (i.e. the geophysical elements: e.g., seismological, geomagnetic or meteorological events) as the result of “humanly-induced climate change”. But that is just spiritual ignorance speaking. These disturbances are really all symptomatic of the transition from one age to another. Painfully. For it is as if the cosmos itself has some kind of ‘consciousness’ of its participation in the fallenness of the creation: “The whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until the present time” (Romans 8:22). Also mentioned prophetically by Jesus in His Sermon on the Mount of Olives are the mass proliferation of false ‘christs’ (messianic “saviour” types) and false prophets, as well as a “multiplication of wickedness”, mass betrayals and “the love of most growing cold” — all of which we see burgeoning around us in the world (and in the visible Church) today. None of all these elements are specifically signs of the end of the age and the immediate return of Christ in judgement but are active throughout it, though exponentially increasing as the end of the age draws near, just like with the discomforts and pains of the gestation of a foetus, until the birth finally occurs.

So all the billions of Dollars, Shekels and Rials of death, destruction and mayhem that is happening in the Middle-East today is simply more of the same — the same unenlightened muscle-flexing of godless nation-states living in a violent video-game level fantasy world of wilful ignorance, lack of love and empathy, violent murderousness, genocidal eugenics and spiritual blindness, while the world hurtles towards its eventual oblivion.

Given the current and near future levels of technological and AI advancement — along with all the despotic digital development and mass surveillance techniques which are being mooted and inaugurated — the coming months and years could well show a transition from the increasingly painful “last days” to the outright satanic “Endtimes” which will make Orwell’s “1984” seem like a boy scouts’ garden party.

Bring it on, I say!
