THERE ARE STILL JUST A FEW copies of “The Serpent and the Cross” left from the limited second-edition printing. My spare room was full of boxes when it first arrived; now there are few. So many have been going out that I was “grilled” about it, and about my faith, by the postman who comes to pick them up. He saw “Religious Book” on the customs form on the parcel. He couldn’t believe that there was only one book in the packet. The book weighs nearly two kilos, with 1,044 pages! Even I had to gasp when it first showed up.
