[I was going through an archive today when I discovered the Question and Answer piece below from October 3rd, 2006, exactly twenty years ago! As this whole subject area seems to have as much significance today, two decades later, I thought I would reproduce it here. You will marvel at the manner in which what I could write in 2006 could so easily have been written today! I have added nothing to it, other than a few relevant links or some points of clarification, which I have clearly marked with the words “2026 Update” in square brackets].

HERE IS WHAT I WROTE IN 2026:

I have been receiving many mails from correspondents which are similar to this one which arrived this morning, which I would like to answer and send out to the entire e-mail list:-

QUESTIONER: Hello, Would you like to comment on the situation in Lebanon? There are mixed views circulating at the moment. The wild-eyed “dispensationalist” crowd are raving about it being the end of the world soon! Would you care to reassure them. I lack credibility in their eyes because I am a Muslim convert to Christianity, a female who is not allowed to comment or have a brain, etc., etc. Please make sense of this for us.

ALAN REPLIES: I am truly sorry you mix in circles in which you are not allowed to have a brain. I know very well that you do have one. A very good one, in fact. However, I can assure you that one doesn’t have to be a female to be disallowed a brain in many Christian circles. Just having a head, two arms and two legs is often enough! The thinking Christian (and I mean the TRULY thinking Christian) is a threat to most churches, because such a character might see through the corrupt dynamics and power system which operates in those churches. Not only that but the more “charismatic” a church happens to be, the more unlikely folks are to think clearly. In those churches, it is not a case of not being allowed to think but that thinking is not very… er… shall we say compatible with the mindset. Thus, in some churches, mindlessness is imposed; in others, it is voluntary. Cooey-zooey! Welcome to Christendumb!

However, all that mindlessness aside, how about seeing through the corrupt dynamics and power system which is operational in the Middle-East at the moment? How many would dare to do that and then risk the insults and slurs which will be hurled in their direction? Corruption… corruption… corruption all around — on both the Arab and Israeli sides. Power-seekers vying for top spot. Politicians will be politicians. But what really concerns me is that in the middle of all that are the ordinary people — families with children who just want to exist but who get bombed out of existence as part of what is misleadingly known as “collateral damage” [2006 Update: known in Israeli military and intelligence circles as “Naza”, which is an Israeli military acronym for Nezek Agavi (נזק אגבי), which translates to “collateral damage”].

However, the worst of it all is that most Christians think that God wants them to have unconditional support for Israel, no matter how beastly they behave. This is because they’ve been sold the lie that the Israel of today is a restoration of the Israel of the Old Testament. [2026 Update: there is a free eBook debunking that myth in great detail which you can download from my website here: https://diakrisis-project.com/2022/12/06/new-entirely-updated-120-page-ebook-abraham-our-father-jerusalem-our-mother/ ].

In order to understand what is going on in the Middle-East, one has to ensure that one has not been deceived by the utterly false ideas concerning Israel which have been pushed in Christian churches for the past century or more. Most Christians have been completely brainwashed — and I mean brainwashed — about Israel, so it is impossible to get them to think objectively or to analyse what is really happening in the Middle-East. When one has been brainwashed, it is impossible to entertain the idea that there may be an alternative way of thinking to that with which one has been brainwashed. A wave of fear accompanies such a possibility. In this case, fear of being accused of so-called antisemitism; fear of being different to the hordes; fear of God blasting you with His wrath because you dared to criticise “the apple of His eye”. To be ‘debriefed’ from such brainwashing is a long and painful process (which, I hasten to add, has actually been accomplished by some brave souls).

It is surely indicative of this stage of this Age that so many subcultural myths have been accepted as fact by the vast majority of professing Christians. I’d be more than inclined to call that apostasy. Would you join me in that view? If so, where in the Bible is such a global degree of apostasy mentioned? That’s right. The second chapter of the second letter of Paul to the Thessalonians. And the context of that chapter? The revealing of the Antichrist and Christ’s subsequent return to knock the whole wretched kaboosh into touch. (No room there for any new-fangled notions of a pre-tribulational Rapture or the Jewish idea of a millennium, by the way — especially when seen alongside 2 Peter 3:10-13! After the Antichrist has been revealed, the Day of the Lord is the next big happening on the prophetic agenda. This is where all this ultimately is leading). The above correspondent’s use of the phrase “wild-eyed” is right on target. There are a lot of wild-eyed people with cleverly-imparted, subcultural belief-systems roaming around the churches today. And they aren’t very loving either, as you will discover if you happen to think differently to them. It’s bad enough when you question the accepted views of the “rapture” or so-called “millennium”, but the unbridled hatred which will come in your direction if you dare to question the “official” Christian view on Israel can be especially shocking. [2026 Update: I have received many threats from Christian Zionists in the past, some serious, but not so much more recently when I have deliberately had a lower profile]

Sometimes, when I have to deal with these people, I get the impression that they’d love to incarcerate me and my buddies in a Guantanamo-Bay or Abu Ghraib style of concentration camp, and then torture me until I repent of ever having believed that the modern state of Israel is not where it’s at for the true believer. I can just see them standing me in a tin bath half-filled with murky water and then wiring my privates to the light-bulb, or setting dogs on me, or making a little sodomic mountain out of me and my buddies and then sending snapshots of that back to the missus! They seem to have an unhealthy attraction to that kind of thing. (Let’s face it, most Christians have propped up the regime which gave us Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib). Perverted, if you ask me — rather like the Nazi obsession with leather, jack-boots, seedy cabarets and occult insignia. [2006 Update: All the torturing elements in this paragraph have been enacted by the US military and CIA in Iraq, often on innocent civilians. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abu_Ghraib_torture_and_prisoner_abuse for details].

No, I will never repent of having questioned and conversely responded to the “official” Christian view on Israel. Never. How could I repent of something when to do so would be to align myself with the joint biggest deception to hit the church since Rome claimed that the Pope is in apostolic succession?!? (I say “joint” because the other biggest deception to hit the church since ‘Rome claimed that the Pope is in apostolic succession’ is the illusion that the present governmental administration in the USA is made up of evangelical Christians who must be cheered (“rah-rah”) for every 100,000 civilians they murder.

In fact, those joint deceptions are part and parcel of the same thing. For the US administration today is the manipulated puppet of the corrupt elite of Israel (via AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, and the PNAC, Project for a New American Century, amongst other entities). This is why “Christian” support for the illegal war in Iraq goes hand in hand with “Christian” support for the present US administration.

Yes, the world is building up to an awful culmination of violence and mayhem, as the powers of darkness jostle for a slice of the table of this earth under which to slide their greasy knees. But the elite who are behind the state of Israel and the governmental administration of the USA are not at all representative of Christian interests but are the naked-power perpetrators of the powers of darkness’s attempted aims for world domination. The state of Israel and its puppet regime in the USA (along with their evangelical cheerleaders in the churches) are, in fact, ultimately, agents of Antichrist — proponents of the plans of the powers of darkness which will lead to that “man of lawlessness”. Earthly Jerusalem is the fulcrum of Christ-hating fanaticism rather than the instigator of a Christ-powered Golden Age on earth, as most professing Christians foolishly seem to believe is coming.

This is a supreme irony, but it should not surprise us when we think about the deception and “lying signs and wonders” which are part and parcel of the Endtimes. Jerusalem as the earthly centre of God’s work in this world was visibly wound up in AD 70. The only Jerusalem of any significance to Christians today is the spiritual Jerusalem — which is the true church (not the corrupted visible church), the “body of Christ”; and that spiritual Jerusalem will become increasingly hedged about by the forces of evil as this Age draws to a close (Revelation 20:9). Isn’t that how it already feels?

The current “crisis” in the Middle-East is but one more component in the jostling and jockeying for the achievement of corrupt goals. Only the most ignorant of people would imagine that the elite of Israel has any real interest in the rescue of the three soldiers who have been captured. I mean those were soldiers. Capturing soldiers is normal in wartime — especially when those soldiers think nothing of shooting your kids in the head for throwing stones or even for nothing. It is unofficial but ratified IDF policy to kill Palestinians without fear of any punishment from their superiors, as the insightful and hyper-honest Israeli columnist, Gideon Levy, wrote in a July 2003 article in the Israeli newspaper, Ha’aretz. Ask countless Palestinian mothers about this too. They know the heavy price of love. Many Christians probably think it’s really cool to shoot Palestinians — even to shoot Palestinian kids. What ignoramuses!

I can well understand the grievance of the Palestinians. Let me tell you this: I think I would also take some kind of serious action against anyone — especially soldiers — who used my kids’ heads for target practice. People whose kids are being killed by human butchers have a right to defend themselves. Conducting the most ridiculously over-the-top punishment campaigns seems to be normal for brutal occupying forces in wartime. When the WWII resistance movement in France (the Maqui) blew up a solitary jeep, the Germans would often put the entire male population of the local village up against the wall and shoot them. This is the kind of crazy retribution policy adopted by the USA in Iraq (especially in Fallujah) and by Israel too. [2006 Update: This is the false victim-behaviour of the bully, which I have encapsulated in a short story entitled “The Deconstructed Bully” (An Allegory for Our Time), which you can find here: https://diakrisis-project.com/2025/06/23/short-story-the-deconstructed-bully-an-allegory-for-our-time/ ].

You can bet your bottom dollar that the rescue of those soldiers is not the real reason behind the retribution of Israel against the civilian populations of Gaza and Lebanon. It is just a pretext for enacting things which have been long in the planning. This is why the elite in Israel do not at all want the Arabs to settle down and live peaceably, for that would leave them without a pretext and they thrive on pretexts. (That’s why you have to see 9/11 as one of the most brazen of pretexts in history). Pretexts are what wars are all about. Pretexts are what powermongering is all about. This is why we have to be so careful not to give people pretexts. Although they will soon enough generate a pretext themselves if you don’t give them one — which is what “false-flag operations” are all about, as we have discussed before.

One of the best overviews I have seen of the current Middle-East situation is on the Information Clearing House website (news you won’t hear on CNN and Fox News). It is a 2002 article by the Israeli, Uri Avnery, entitled “The Real Aim…” . [2006 Update: Unfortunately, the Information Clearing House no longer exists, after its founder, Tom Feeley, passed away in 2024. But Uri Avnery’s article can be found here: https://www.bulatlat.com/news/2-14/2-14-reader-israelpalestine-avnery.html . After reading that article you will see how little has changed in Israel’s deceptive strategy].

Many people have no idea that a sizeable part of the Israeli population is not in agreement with what the elite in their country are doing. The outspoken Gideon Levy said yesterday in Ha’aretz:

“Regrettably, the Israel Defence Forces once again looks like the neighbourhood bully. A soldier was abducted in Gaza? All of Gaza will pay. Eight soldiers are killed and two abducted to Lebanon? All of Lebanon will pay. One and only one language is spoken by Israel, the language of force… In Gaza, a soldier is abducted from the army of a state that frequently abducts civilians from their homes and locks them up for years with or without a trial – but only we’re allowed to do that. And only we’re allowed to bomb civilian population centres”.

Public demonstrations have been taking place in Haifa, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv demanding that there is an end to the daily brutality towards the Palestinians which has made so many of the Arab population indulge in violent gestures out of frustration. One of the demonstrators said: “Israel is entering another cycle of fighting and continues the foolishness of exaggerated aggression. I came here to protest because there’s a link between starving and oppressing the Palestinians and the bombings in Lebanon”. I wonder how many have made that link. It’s plain for all to see. But the blindness of the Israel-supporting evangelicals is about as total as that of the Jews towards the claims of Christ! How many times have I heard these “evangelicals” whining about the Palestinians as if they were all utterly evil people. Yet many of them are Christians and many of them are very lovely people indeed — very dignified, as anyone who has met numerous Palestinians will tell you. Yes! Imagine that! To most of the bellicose, immature evangelicals today, such an idea is anathema.

I saw an extraordinary and very moving documentary film recently, entitled “The Ramallah Concert — Knowledge is the Beginning”. It is about the work of the brilliant Jewish Argentinian conductor, Daniel Barenboim, in bringing Israelis and Palestinians together in an orchestra of the Middle-East. The young Israelis in the orchestra were interviewed and said things like: “I never realised there was such a thing as a cultured Palestinian. I thought they were all animals. That’s what I was brought up to believe”. Palestinians said things like “I never realised that Israelis could be non-aggressive nice people”. Yes, music is a great healer. Yet, Barenboim has been completely defamed by the Israeli elite and accused by others of being a traitor (as you will see in the documentary, during one extraordinary scene in the Knesset when the conductor is receiving a prize for his work and is then denounced by the Israeli Minister of Culture because he used the occasion to draw some biblical lessons for his hosts about how to treat foreigners). Traitor? Not at all. Hero? I believe so. [2026 Update: You can watch this remarkable documentary on YouTube in seven 15-minute segments, and I urge you to do so as you will learn a great deal about the situation there and the whole thing is deeply moving: Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIK0jHl5HJA ; Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kS9TOstHPo8 ; Part 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF5ptZXHGZw ; Part 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4R0XeG2Scqg ; Part 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFdNCcbrwtY ; Part 6: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDjLnjvz2Wg ; Part 7: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSVWZrPLzzQ ].

I am determined to go to Gaza and other Palestinian territories as soon as I can arrange it in order to see things for myself. (I would like even to venture to Lebanon, if possible). I want to see it all with my own eyes. I want to see what I already know to be true but which needs proving to the world — that is, if an IDF sniper’s rifle doesn’t send a bullet into my brain first [see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Hurndall for evidence that IDF snipers deliberately kill peace activists]. Is there anyone out there who would like to come with me? I have contacts in Israel and Egypt. This is a serious proposal. I look forward to your replies. [2026 Update: I did have a voyage to Palestine arranged but then I had a back injury and was unable to go. I always like to go places myself to see what things are really like. I would like to go to Iran right now!].

Before you bomb me with how poor old Israel has suffered from terrorism and is only defending itself, let me say that I am more than aware of what has really been going on and base my understanding not merely on what I am fed by the media but also by opening my eyes, ears and heart to the truth which whimpers quietly in multiple corners of this planet. I believe that Israel has brought hatred down upon itself with its arrogance, its hubris, its initial and continuing occupying brutality with massacres and absurd claims of land-rights. Israel and the USA must be the most hated countries in the world. They have only themselves to blame. I could say much more. So much more. This whole subject eats away at my soul night and day. I abhor deception, violence and needless bloodshed. Christians could have taken opportunity after opportunity to take the moral lead in all this. Yet, the mindless support for the “endless war” policy of the neoconservatives amongst so-called evangelicals has put paid to that.

The time has come to show the world that there are some Christians who actually believe that being Christlike involves stepping outside the ready-to-wear subcultural straitjacket imposed in churches today and starting to realise what it means to be truly human. For that is what being “a believer” means. We should become human as God intended; peacemakers, and not the supporters of mayhem, whether in the Middle-East or anywhere else.

[Well, the above is what I wrote, sent to my email list, and then put on the website on October 3rd 2006. Would you agree that it could easily have been written today as the circumstances have not changed one iota? Still the same worn-out excuses for evil. Still the same justifications for it all, even from so-called “evangelicals”. The mind boggles really. This is a very odd time to be alive. The stench of doom everywhere. The level of apostasy in the churches. The lack of love and insight from so many professing Christians. I thank God every day for the beauties of creation which somehow seem to compensate a little for the indulgently sinful follies of Man].
